GreenRide is a web-based application that helps you find transportation alternatives in the greater Grand Rapids metro area and surrounding counties including Allegan, Kent, and Ottawa. Carpooling helps preserve air quality, decrease traffic congestion, conserve fuel, promote better health, and saves you money all at the same time.
TEST
GreenRide helps you find carpooling partners by searching for others who live near you and have similar commute schedules. Sharing the ride with just one other person can reduce your commuting costs by 50%.

Corporate Programs
GreenRide can be customized for employer-only programs, which allows employees to match only with other employees of the same company. Please contact Kevin Wisselink at The Rapid for further information at kwisselilnk@ridetherapid.org or 616-774-1159.

RapidVan Vanpooling

Vanpools need minimum of four persons commuting to work. The RapidVan program includes a new(er) minivan, all fuel charges, insurance, carwashes, 24/7 fleet management, and all other incidental costs of driving a vehicle.

Commutes less than 60 miles each way cost $500 per month and commutes over 60 miles each way cost $700 per month. RapidVan costs are divided among the participants. The average cost per person to participate in a vanpool is approximately $83-$140+ per month, based on commute patterns, mileage, and occupancy.

All drivers must pass a drug/alcohol screen, criminal and driving background check, USDOT health exam, defensive driving class, and provide a current State of Michigan driving license along with proof of personal insurance.

Bicycling
To help improve access and make it easy to combine a bus/bike commute, all Rapid buses are equipped with bike racks. There is no charge to bring your bike on the bus. Stationary racks are located at Central Station. For more information on biking in the area, visit the Rapid Wheelmen, a local cycling club.
